'Just Do It'

Our family has recently adopted this slogan as our new family motto. Chris and I have talked extensively about our adventures to come and realized that too often we let having young kids keep us from doing things. There is always housework and naps and it's a bit of a struggle to spend an afternoon at a museum or to try and keep little ones entertained while adding some culture to your life. So, we just hafta do it! It's crazy and difficult, but we miss more by staying home and cleaning up all the cheerios off of the floor. There's 'No day, but today'...

Falls Church (our new hometown) had a Community Farm Day on Saturday. Our house is in total chaos. The kids still don't have sheets on their beds. We have all the tops to our lamps, but none of the bases- which leaves all the rooms without light at nighttime. I haven't come across the silverware box yet. It's a madhouse... and so, we left it all here and closed the door behind us as we headed to the Farm Day. The house will be in the same condition tomorrow, and probley next month. We all had a blast and the kids got to ride on a hayride, paint pumpkins, pet animals. Of course, all is fine and good till you try to drive the three miles home in ridiculous traffic. We reached our house an hour later. So much for 'just doing it'.

Boy, traffic can really ruin your "go with the flow and have fun anyway" attitude! Impressive effort though! :) Seems like kids can get more frustrated by staying home all day than by a lack of silverware and sheets... Hang in there!

Despite the huge culture change and the pains of moving, are you loving the east coast Fall? have the colors started to change yet? We just got back a couple of days ago, it was beautiful but we were further north. Hang in there. It will all come together eventually and your little family will appreciate the memories!

It is so hard to find the balance isn't it? I have to agree with you though, it is much better to just do things than to let life go by without being a part of it.
